Guilty pleasure

Audrey has a new little thing she does.

She comes up to me, hugs me, and says "You are the best(est) Mommy ever!"

Oy.  What do you say to that?  I just hug her back, and tell her thanks, that she is the 'best ever' too.  I secretly enjoy this little outpouring of affection.  I need to tape it and replay it when she's older and we are arguing about something insignificant.

Where did she get it from?  Her brothers.

"Mom, you're the best" comes out of their mouths every now and then too.  Hmm.  It's nice to know that the boss likes you.

Even if the only raises you get don't involve money, but sticky, dirty hands on your clean shirt.  A footprint on your new white sneakers.  Snot on your shoulder.  An misplaced knee in your back in the middle of the night.  The car behind you honking because the light turned green, but you are busy admiring the sleeping toddler in the rearview mirror and are still sitting at a complete stop.

There are days that I love being the Mom.  I never would have thought it was possible, when I was a teenager, and arguing with my mother about something insignificant.

You can bet she gets the last laugh when I share my day with her~

Ahhhhh yes....such great moment these are.  Thses are the moments that keep your from pulling your hair out or ripping their little heads off when they drive you apeshit!!!!!  She sure sounds too cute!

I feel like I'm fast approaching that age where it won't happen for me anymore.  Everytime Gracie crawls on to my lap, I wonder when the day will come that she will be too old for these simple little pleasures!

If it's any help, it doesn't go away. My 25 year old still gets footprints on my new shoes, snot on my shoulder, and sleeps in my car while I am driving. She gets her sticky hands on my new shirts, too, and carries them out the door with her. She doesn't always tell me I am the best, but I can tell :)

We are mommies for life. I have always told her she will always be my baby, whether she likes it or not. She seems to like it just fine.

Loved this entry!  Don't ever feel guilty about these pleasures!  Can you believe that there are so called "parents" out there who don't actually feel this pleasure?  You're kids are lucky to have a mom who cherishes them as you do!  Michelle

One time (at band camp...no just kidding) The Butter told me that when I hugged him he felt as if his heart would explode because he loved me so much.  If only we could convey that same feeling to our kids.  Loved this entry.  ~Peachy
