They listen to every word I say

The Science Fair was tonight.

I didn't want to go.   I'm not a bad Mom,  I'm just a little tired of being at the school.  I was sporting a mild headache.  Bring on the Advil.

Besides, the terror had not slept, and even I know that the answer to this equation is not a neat one:

Tired toddler + lots of people  = _______

Even as I told Ben, "We're not going,"  I could feel myself start watching the clock as the time approached.

All because he'd given me the puppy dog eyes, the ones that said, "Come on, Mom, PLLEEEEEAAAAAAASE? "

Oh, alright.

Mom's putty in their hands, and they know it.

I'm semi-glaring at him in the kitchen, as Ryan is pilfering through the pantry to get a snack, and saying, "Look, I'm only looking at yours, Nolan's, and Ryan's stuff, and we are leaving.  No socializing or goofing off.  When it's time to go, it's time to go, and I don't want to hear you bitch..."  I pause, and before I can go on, I hear a little voice from the pantry say:

"and moan."

I bowed my head.  Thanks, Ryan.

Thanks for providing me yet another reason for watching my language.

Damn it.

And did you wind up staying even longer?  I usually say that to my kids too, but then I wind up running into all these people that I know and I wind up talking and then my kids are telling ME they want to leave (LOL)

LOL.... I can remember those days.  My kids still laugh about the times I got worked up about something, and let loose in front of them.  Well ... even moms get frustrated.  And who doesn't have a few words that they save for such times?  Tina  http://journals.aol.com/onemoretina/Ridealongwithme

We are so much alike that is it amazing. LOL

I felt the same way last night about the ballgame. I sooo didn't want to go. I was kinda hoping Chase would come home feeling bad so I could tell him we were not going (I know, I'm a bad MOM)... But we went and it turned out to be the best ball game of the year... We lost, but only by 1 point in the last 4 seconds!

So, did you end up going and having a good time? :o)

So where are the pictures of their darling projects?  What happens to plants when they grow in the dark. Which spot removers work the best. What happens when you put cats in the microwave. I guess I'll just have to wait for my own children to provide me with some grandchildren. Hope I can live that long.  Mrs. L

I would bet that you stayed and looked at more than the boy's projects....

They don't miss a thing, do they?

My son even has a language delay and he's still picked up a couple choice words from me.  <sigh>

Kids need to hear their parents swearing! How else do they learn to do it the right way? The school yard? Bah!
